Flower Child Cafe Chatswood- The Food
Flower Child Café is a
popular brunch spot that features a variety of delicious foods that caters to
everyone’s preference. From breakfast that includes French toast for all you
people with a sweet tooth, to lunch options that incorporates a variety of
savoury items, you will never miss out on your favourite foods.
The Foodies of Sydney team
visited Flower Child Café located in Westfield Chatswood on a Thursday at
lunchtime. We waited approximately 10 mins for a table and was served within a
few minutes of sitting down.
What we ordered:
Eggs Benedict: The eggs
benedict was served with prosciutto and grilled asparagus on a flaky baked
croissant with poached eggs and burnt hollandaise sauce. Flower Child had put a
twist on this classic brunch item by incorporating a croissant instead of the
traditional English muffin, which gave it an interesting aspect that we enjoyed
very much. However, although the presentation of this dish looked amazing with
its unique concept, the flavour of this dish was not as outstanding as what it
looked to be. Yet, it was still a great brunch item that gave a spin on the
classic eggs benedict.
Vegan Bowl: Another popular
item on the menu was the vegan bowl, perfect for vegetarians and vegans. This
featured house made falafel, quinoa, sweet potato, wild rocket leaf, pickled
gold beets, avocado, roasted truss tomatoes, pomegranate, spiced chickpeas,
almonds and sesame seeds, served with a pickled beetroot hummus and lemon
tahini dressing.
In our opinion the vegan bowl had the
perfect balance of savory and acidity and the overall variety within the dish
is unbelievable. The saying of eating with your eyes first holds true for the
vegan bowl as it was extremely aesthetic. The array of red, yellow and green
colours also gave the dish a very vibrant and unique indie vibe.
Summer Toast: The last item
that we ordered was the Summer Toast, one of Flower Child Café’s special items
that can only be found around this time. It included special toast with an
array of tomatoes, and cheese with a balsamic glaze, a perfect light and fresh
meal.
Upon arrival of the dish
the appearance of the dish was instantly appealing to the eye, with its fresh,
vibrant colours. The tomatoes were varying in colour and garnished with a few
salad leaves, emphasising the ‘summer’ themed dish. However, the charcoal toast
was extremely dry, and the items on the plate lacked flavour and techniques
that would’ve made the dish a lot more appetising. Overall the flavour of the
dish was quite average however very aesthetically pleasing and perfect for
those looking for a healthy, light meal and to brighten up their social media
accounts.
Look forward to next week’s
post more about Flower Child Café.
