KOI DESSERT BAR MACQUARIE POP UP STORE- FOOD

KOI DESSERT BAR POP- UP STORE AT MACQUARIE CENTRE

Koi dessert bar is a spectacular, premium dessert bar established by the famous Poernomo brothers, Reynold Poernomo, a former contestant on MasterChef Australia in 2015, Ronald Poernomo, a handy expert in the kitchen, particularly with desserts and Arnold Poernomo, a judge on MasterChef Indonesia and MasterChef Junior.

Koi originated in a two-storey glass building in Chippendale Sydney and later branched out to a store in Ryde alongside occasional pop- up stores around Sydney.

The Foodies of Sydney Team were privileged to visit a pop- up at Macquarie centre on a quiet Thursday afternoon, we were astounded by the spectacular display behind a glass window. Individual desserts immaculately spaced out each with distinct intricate
patterns, designs and colours.

Although the pop- up had a fraction of options in comparison to the menu in store.

We were instantly faced with indecision and asked the workers for a suggestion. We ordered the Mango Yuzu, which is their most popular menu item.

An enticing mango mousse and Yuzu curd glazed with a very glossy green layer, encircled by a thin layer of dark chocolate. And topped with a rose petal. The cake intentionally emulating an apple, however, the Foodies of Sydney team couldn't resist remarking its resemblance to an avocado.

The cake was premium priced for a miniature cake, therefore would be appropriate to only be purchased occasionally as an exquisite delicacy or shared among a few people.

Overall, the Foodies of Sydney team really enjoyed the sweet tang of the mango cake, it was rich and exotically flavoured, creamy but not heavy and delicately presented.

Stay tuned for tomorrow's post!
