Tea Journal- The vibes

Tea Journal is a modern Chinese tea cafe owned by Sunny Huang with an itching vision to educate Sydney about Chinese tea. All teas served at the cafe are grown by Huang’s family and family friend’s five-century old tea plantations in the Yunnan mountains of China.

The cafe is a hidden gem that is concealed around the corner of Chatswood station that is unquestionably worth the discovery. The cafe assembles an immaculate, pleasant and tranquil atmosphere, exhibiting a large display of Chinese decor, teas, teapots, complimented with quirky tables, chairs and cutlery that is aesthetically placed. It engages and inspires the guests to learn and connect with traditional Chinese culture with a modern twist. It is also a great healthy alternative to other cafes with medicinal benefits.

When The Foodies of Sydney team arrived on a weekday afternoon, we were instantly greeted and were taken to a set of comfy and spacious seating with warm, lighting and soft music to set an intimate environment. All menu items are reasonably priced and definitely beyond affordable for an extensive selection of generic black and green teas, pu’er, oolong, white and herbal teas. And an array of homemade chiffon cakes that can be purchased whole or sliced. The cakes were served up on a charcoal, black platter and hot tea/water were poured in a double layers glass cup that prevents fingers getting burned by the hot liquid, employees often walked pass to refill your tea/water.

Overall, the vibes of Tea journal is very laid- back, perfect for casual meet-ups with friends, businessmen to have discussions, small gatherings, students to study, tea lovers, or anyone who is eager to avoid the rampage of central Chatswood for some wholesome teas and cakes and lighten up their day.
