Tea Journal- The Food: Rose cake

“The morning comes to consciousness… with all its muddy feet that press, to early coffee-stands”
by T.S Eliot from Preludes.

Our thoughts on Tea Journal:

Tea Journal is a small but cosy café situated in the heart of Chatswood just a stone toss from
the train station. Most members of the Foodies team were all genuinely surprised by the contrast
in atmosphere as we entered the shop. Despite being so close to the train station, Tea Journal stood
as a serene lotus flower undisturbed by the noisy traffic of life which surrounds it.

The Foodies of Sydney team arrived at Tea Journal on the 26th of April around 3pm on a sunny
afternoon. We were immediately greeted and were introduced to their range of homemade cakes
and given a tea menu to choose from.

What we ordered:
The Tea Journal homemade Rose cake:
The first two things our team noticed were the generously large portion and the intricate
detail of dusting sugar sieved on the tip of the cake. The pale icing covered cake was served to
us on a black stone plate which further enhances the appearance of the vibrantly pink rose petals.

Taste:
We Foodies know how hard it is to find a cake that is flavourful and at the same time
not overly sweet. Thus, the Rose cake came as a pleasant surprise to us as it is sugar
balanced whilst still maintaining strong rose undertones, definitely a bargain for your money.

Look forward to next week’s post on the Tea Journal’s Matcha cake!
